This article will explain how to use your android phone camera as a webcam for your PC/Laptop. It works with work all PC like windows, Mac and all.
Being myself as a student I am using my mobile as webcam to attend online classes. Bigscreen devices are more convenient to see what is visualizing through classes.
And if you had a question, "Can I use my android phone a webcam for pc".The answer is "of course Yes " and "Why Not?" 😉.Let's Begin.
As in the current situation students have to attend the classes through online this thing is for all students which means both School and College Students. Most of them are attending classes through their smartphones. Although some have laptops/PC they are using Mobile Devices to attend classes because of no webcam installed or low-quality cam attached to the PC.
Why Using Mobile as a Webcam?
To Improve the Video Quality: Using the mobile as a webcam can let improve the camera quality because most of the webcams come with 1 Megapixel camera which leads a grainy a video.
You can tell probably there is no need to have high definition 4k such quality in webcam, though it is true. But no one likes a grainy video correct. For such cases using mobile as webcam for your desktop will be helpful. It will be more same as what your actual phone camera quality while using as a webcam too.
For PC having No Webcam: Yeah! you can use a mobile camera for those laptops don't come with an inbuilt webcam. You may think that Is any laptops coming with non-inbuilt webcam. I can list some Mi Notebook, Asus Zenbook, Dell Inspiration and some more.
To surveillance the Room: You can do surveillance with following featuring app.Yup! But don't misuse this. Hope you won't.
Do you Know? Some people are deliberately wanted to buy a laptop without a webcam, Bluetooth feature. But why? I also don't know. They are trying to handicap themselves🙄.
How to use Android Phone Camera as a webcam for PC:
STEPS TO FOLLOW
- Download Droid Cam App in your Android Phone.
- And then download Droid Cam Client Application in your PC
- After Installed those applications, make sure your mobile and PC connected through the same network which means under the same wifi connection.
Either connect your phone with Laptop's Hotspot or Connect PC and Phone to same wifi router/dongle. It doesn't work when you connected your mobile hotspot with a PC. You Can do this without wifi also by USB cable but it is not recommended.
- Open Droid Cam Mobile App. It will be shown like below picture (after skipped the tutorial images.)
- You can see your wifi IP showing and Droid Cam port.
- What you have to do after this is means open PC Client App and enter same IP and droid cam port what showing in your mobile (If you want to use your phone audio means, tick that "audio")
- Then Smash that "Start" Button. Boom! that's all. (A preview of your video will be shown in pop up).
- Let it connected after that Open your app that you guys listening to Online Class (Ex.Zoom, Google Meet and all). Change the camera settings source to Droid Cam (May contains Droid Cam 1, Droid Cam 2 and Droid Cam 3 try all that and choose what works).
- For those who don't have an inbuilt webcam, it automatically detects droid cam as a camera source.

How to Spy?
Well, for surveillance🕵️♂️ no need to download Droid Cam Client app. In the mobile app screen (see first app image), you can see "Browser IP Cam Access: " Enter that 1st IP address in your browser and boom you'll see that what your camera sees. Here you have some controls too.
By the entering that 2nd IP Address( i.e HTTP://192.168.**.**/video) leads to show only the video, no controls will available there.
- You can play this video in VLC player also Just Open VLC >Click Ctrl+S>Network>Paste HTTP://192.168.**.**/video (This type your IP URL) > Then Click Alt+P. That's all that live video will play in VLC Player. It is useful when you want more volume than which you heard in the browser because vlc volume can extend 200%. But your video will little laggy while playing it on vlc.
- Likewise, you can play youtube videos in vlc through this method replace this HTTP://192.168.**.**/video URL with Youtube Video URL or Link.
- If you don't wanna use this app to make your android mobile as webcam, but just for seeing what your mobile camera seeing means IP camera App is the Best Option.
How to place your phone as a stand?
- Book Upon Mobile: If you are placing your laptop against the wall, then place a big sized book or note behind the lid and place your mobile phone as Landscape above the book or note. I'm using my Anatomy book to do so.
- Likewise, you can use boxes to stand your phone.
- Use selfie stick to hold your phone but careful upon your lid should forces that stick if not mean you can't get the balance your stick with the phone will fall done. These are all workout when you using a laptop that placed against all.
- For Computers, Use Cloth Drying Clips: Clip two clips on the top of the monitor and place your mobile(Landscape) in between them. Tat tata! How were my ideas 😁?
